Stop (Motion) it!

Before he Beat Bobby Flay and even before he Chopped or Cutthroat Kitchen, Jay Ducote was a local food blogger. He was doing a documentary pilot about trying to lose weight while still enjoying all the food Louisiana has to offer. The show was in need of an intro. Jay came to us with a script he’d recorded but had no idea for visuals. We thought doing some stop motion would be cool.

Style Testing

We had an idea we thought would create a cool and interesting look for the intro, so we went to the parking lot and shot some photos of Matt doing an ollie. We printed the photos out, then cut them out by hand and animated them on a table at the office. Knowing that we had something we liked we decided to roll with it.

Cut It Out

After a quick photo shoot we began the long arduous process of cutting Jay out of every single photo. That’s about 300 tiny Jay Ducote’s painstakingly cut out with an exacto blade by hand.

Ready… Set… Stop Motion

After the photos were cut all that was left was to built the set and start shooting the stop motion photography.

Fin

3 all nighters and a couple tweaks in the computer and this bad boy was ready to go.
